LS3 engines from GM Connect and Cruise. Oil Pan size?

Have any of you noticed the info GM specified for the LS3 6.2 liter engine? It says 5.5 quarts.
I saw on another site that some of these engines came with larger pans that require 8 quarts.
There is a bar code p/n on the bottom of the pan. This is the pan that came on my LS3.
8 quarts brings it up to the full mark.

Mine doesn't say how many quarts. It just says to the full Mark on the dipstick. From experience at work we almost always put 6 quarts in an LS from LS1 to LS3 no matter the vehicle and checked the dipstick after running and then resting for a few minutes. Being that's for a supercharged engine, 8 quarts is a definite possibility. You can look up vehicles specs on Amsoil's website. Try one of the vehicles listed on the web page you referenced. Most of the oil changes I did on those were 1500 series pickups. The level on the dipstick will be the same no matter the pan capacity.

Yup, Amsoil says 8 quarts. I guess different 6.2's got different size pans.

Just did the 500 mile oil change, it did take 8 quarts with the filter.
