    Engine Heat

    While searching for a brake light issue saw several postings about engine heat.

    When I started up my project for the first time I felt that too much heat was trapped in the engine compartment.

    Discussing my concern with the amount of engine heat with a fellow builder he suggested hood vents from a 1985-1990 Camaro.

    This is a picture of the aluminum louvers (from Summit) and how they look on my build. The air flow is substantial in reducing the heat buildup. They are not period correct but close.

    Hope this may be helpful.

    I am having heat buildup issues as well. I have a Blueprint SBC 383 with a 700R4 transmission. I have added transmission oil cooler and an engine oil cooler mounted under the bed with individual thermostat controlled fans and still running close to 200 with city driving. Do the side louvres provide enough cooling in higher ambient temperatures? What was your source for the louvres?

    I created some different side vents for my 383 in the Hot Rod. Temps seem fine to this point ((1300 miles)
