Fitting, body work, and finally paint!

So I'm convinced that there's a force in the world that is using this project to teach me patience. I'm not sure it's working, but I think I'm getting better!

After 18 months working on my Daytona, I shipped it to Ken Pike in Sacramento. It still has clear coat to come, as well as re-assembly, but I'm finally seeing the "I might actually drive this thing some day" in my future. I will have a fairly small list of items to complete when I get the car back, but hopefully I'll have it thought VIN inspection here in Colorado before the end of the year (then there's some waiting for plates). Here are some pics Ken has sent over the last few days. I'm very excited to see the car again here in a few weeks. It's been a long several months - but worth the wait.

Chris - Absolutely. Definitely one of my favorite angles on the Daytona

    Rian,

Are you the Rian I talked with at a work-spnsored car show I had my Coba at a little over a year ago?

    Hey Dave!

I don't recall it, but I have a crumby memory! I haven't been to a lot of shows etc. since I don't have a fun toy to show off yet.....
Looking forward to meeting you and a bunch of other folks in the spring and summer though!

Rian, looks great ! Midnight blue metallic? Are the stripes bright white or an off white? Congrats to get to this point, agree this project seems like a never-ending one.

It may not have been you. Either way, the car looks great! I don't see many Daytona Coupes in Colorado, so you'll be pretty unique wherever you go.

Yup, midnight blue (LA color code) - bright white stripes.

Papa - yeah, it's going to stand out I think! I know of about 3-4 other coupes in the metro area, but that's not a lot considering the number of cobras.....

2500 mile round trip to pick it up and tow it back.....
    Very happy with the results

So cool that you saw it! We arrived the next day to get it. Ken is great, and I'm very happy with the work. It DID take a while, but the coupes are different challenge on bodywork and fitting....

Good luck on yours! hopefully we'll both be driving them next summer!
