removing fuel tank
ok, I just finished retrofitting my Gen II with Shane's fuel crossover and replacing the fuel pump on the passenger side because my fuel gauge was not working.
I have read that replacing the fuel pump is easiest to do when you remove the tank.
I give. How do you remove the passenger side fuel tank?
I remove the seat and the access panel, the access panel below the tank, the access panel that has the brake line, the wheel. I could get the tank to wiggle, but not even close to coming out.
Fortunately for me, after removing all the stuff I did, I could worm the old fuel pump out, sorry mom for some of the words the fell out of the tank, and get the new pump in.

It goes in from the interior. Something must have been holding it up.

Once you remove the seat and tank cover behind the seat, the tank comes straight out the front. If you have '04 tanks, that tank is always "too big" to fit properly and maybe catching on the outboard aluminum panel that surrounds the seat belt retractors? If so, you'll just have to bow that panel in to clear the tank? We always heat the '04 tanks in that area and push that edge of the tank in so that it fits the chassis better....
