    Aod to 4r70

Want to changeout my ford aod to a 4r70. Anybody know what parts or any changes that I would have to do? Heard the 4r70 is about a inch longer, would that be my only concern?

The 4R70 is also electronic, so you need a shift controller.

Yes, a stand alone kit, since I have a blueprint 347 with a fitech.

Oh, and JimS noted that the slip yoke for the 4R70W has a larger outer diameter:

Looks like I need to pull my engine and transmission. Anybody drop the trans from underneath. Don’t look possible to me.

The 4R70W driveshaft yoke is unique to the 4r70. I used Dane / Spicer 2-3-14061X, 1330 joint.

The trans controller I used came from Blueprint and it's a UShift controller (Blueprint 347 with 4R70W, and Sniper).

And I chose to eliminate the speedo sensor on the tailshaft, added a block off plate. I plan to get my speedo signal from the UShift controller, it monitors the output shaft speed sensor.

I don't know about an AOD, but I just dropped my TKO-600 from the bottom on a MK III Roadster.
I'm swapping out my TKO to install a 4R70W from the bottom.
I currently have an empty case that I am using for a mockup install.

Factory five said I would need to remove trans from inside of cab. Trans shop got it out, and is currently rebuilding my aod(which was stock) to handle my 347. But now I have another problem. Just got a 05 van with a 6.0 w/4speed auto(for free with only 80,000 miles). I really want to switch over to the 6.0 in a few years time.
