Filling the gaps between Cab and Frame??? Suggestions needed

On the truck cab between the cab base and frame will allow a lot of air up into the cab while driving. Of particular concern for me is the cab area below the seat belt, behind the doors at the cab base and frame. The area below the door and front simple silicon chalking will work.

Looking for suggestions to fill and block the outside air from entering the cab.

For those that didn't run the exhaust out the back and dumped the exhaust out under the cab (per the instructions I might add) this is a serious health issue and a clear safety issue that allows the exhaust to enter the cab.

Anyway... any ideas most welcome.

Hi Mark!

I used a (very messily Applied in my case) mixture of dollar store pool noodles cut approx to size plus brand name spray foam. I used 1/4 inch id poly tubing plus tape keeping it attached to the nozzle to extend the reach of the foam. The spray foam was a crap show…doing it from underneath got almost as much on me as underneath the truck…but it did work. In retrospect I will suggest accurate chopping of pool noodles far more important than spray foam. I think you could even slide a pool noodle cut in half almost the full length of each door between cab and frame rail to improve on what I did….

Now, my kit being a very early version, plus being a Canadian kit (which is different due to socialist style Canadian govt regulations) didn’t come with anything to cover the front foot outside kick panel areas. Amongst many other bits n pieces.

So, what I did is following a local election, I snagged a couple of the signs from my neighbors garbage, you know…the plastic cardboard type stuff, cut it to size after several tries, then glued matching carpet to it and used Velcro to make it stay in place. That too helped a lot. Why Velcro?…on the passenger side is where the motor for the wipers was mounted on my build…so wanted easy access there…with aftermarket stuff one never knows how reliable it is until it has been for a while.

Drivers side did to match, but also that’s where my quick disconnects for the drivers side door electrical was.

Thx Pat. I too was thinking the pool noodles.... the plastic type vs the sponge type as they don't absorb water. The foam, would in most cases, absorb water unless you found a foam that didn't.

Hopefully more ideas to follow this thread

I plan to install a Z shaped piece of aluminum to close up the sides between the floor and the cab. It will terminate between the running board and the underside of the cab. That leaves only the ends that will need another panel of some kind. Have not decided on that area yet but it does need to be closed up.
The footwells also need a larger piece of aluminum between the part supplied and the door. On the passenger side it will need to be removeable as I also mounted the wiper motor there. This certainly an area that Factory Five should address in the future, as the cab should be air tight, especially from the bottom as well as the engine bay.
