    Vintage Gauge Water Temp Question

I’m using the speedhut vintage gauges. My water temp gauge is not matching up with my Sniper 2 temperature gauge. Its off by 40 degrees. When my sniper gauge runs at 180 degrees (thermostat setting) my speedhut water gauge reads 140. I’m running my radiator fan off my sniper ECU so not a big deal but wandering if anyone else has had a problem with their speedhut water gauge.

Are they both reading at the same point in the engine?

Yes, different sensors but both are intake manifold sensors.

A picture showing both senders would help.

They're just reading resistance but I doubt that the two senders operate within the same range. Given that the Sniper seems to agree with the thermostat I suspect the Speedhut sender is at fault. You could check with Speedhut and ask if they can give you a resistance scale and how that correlates to various temperature; i.e. XX ohms=180 degrees then measure it and see if that agrees with the Sniper and thermostat.

What ports in the intake are the sensors in? I suspect the sensor for the gauge might be in poor coolant flow or a less than optimal position.

Jeff, SpeedHut has a simple set of directions to check if the gauge is bad. It might be on their website. I can't find mine, but it did tell me the gauge was fine, it was the sender.
