    Bought a Donor.

Lots of responses to my thread bout a possible donor. I went and looked at a 2002 WRX wagon with frame rot. The car is in pretty good shape besides the rot. It is only in one place in front of the rear wheel. Does not seem to be structural at this point so I may register and drive it until I decide to build. I have attached some photos. The car runs and drives very well. No weird noises or other issues. It has brand new front contol arms that were replaced in a recall.
    Should make a great donor.
    Mike

That looks like a GREAT donor! Sometime next year I'll be buying one too. I want to get a wagon (just like yours) and drive it for a while. I want to make sure that it is mechanically in good condition before I put into an 818S.

GREAT find Mike! Good for you! I'm with you, DD it, and find the quirks and areas that need attention before you tear it down. Likewise, put the miles on something other than your current DD.

Good for you, and good luck with it. I think you got yourself a good deal!!

    Regards,

    Steve

That's amazing, Mike. I love happy endings! You hit the mother lode. All your sheetmetal and glass look great. That's at least equivalent to getting a cobra mustang donor that runs for your roadster build. It's even an STI (I've heard that's good more hp)!

I'm waiting for the next thread which will probably read, "Can't sacrifice my WRX for a donor, it's too much fun to dirve!!!!!"

    Good luck, WEK.

It's only a WRX since it's a wagon. It's an aftermarket intercooler that someone painted "STI" on. The drive by cable throttle body also give it away.

    Still a great find nonetheless!

I stand corrected on my not worth it. You made a good score. Glad you went and looked at it. Have a great time working on your donor and dreaming up your version of the 818.

Nice find indeed. And for a DD till you're ready is even better. Looks like more and more are getting their donors ready. Can't wait to see what everyone's doing as well as any tips and tricks come up. Good luck.
