Andrew, thank you for your service. This is an attractive option for me. I have a question, do you attempt to get the engine running before you tear down the car? Check for codes or check engine light? Thanks
In many cases we drive the donor. I have videos of each of them running which can be sent upon request. After they are tested that way they are also leak down and compression tested.
Thanks, for me that very important to know that the donor started and ran before disassembly. Peace of mind I guess is were I'd file that. Unless I come across a donor that can't be passed up, I'll more than likely be giving AJW a call.
I have a question: do these kits come with car's registration, VIN, etc?
EDIT: So I TOTALLY misunderstood the question. (doh!) Forget what I said. Sorry.

My donor kit came with a VIN plate, a salvage title, and a receipt showing purchase from AJW Performace/818donors. Talking to OH state police, they were more interested in the receipt, but he also indicated the other stuff will further their confidence that nothing was stolen. The VIN plate and title will not be reused for the 818, just good supporting documentation when it comes time to inspect the new 818. And a new vin no. kind of makes sense since it includes manufacture, build year, build country info all inside. As Xusia indicated, we are the manufacturer, the VIN will show that as opposed to Subaru, anyway.
Any idea what shipping on these kits usually runs? Trying to get one out in Colorado.

There are a number of threads where the cost has been included (the buyer has posted it). Budget $1K and you'll be ok.

1500 to deliver the AJW donor stuff? (not the FFR kit)

The AJW parts are much much cheaper to deliver than Stewart is for the kit is it's self. Shipping to CA for me with Stewart was $1900 for the 818S. The AJW donor parts for me arrived in two full size closed pallets and cost me ~$650 for the shipping and ~$200 for the lumber for the crates.
Well that's good to know!
If I assume cross border up to Montreal for 3000 for the kit and 2000 for the AJW crates, I'm way better off taking 2-3 days off (or less if I get it on the w-e if possible), renting a 20-24' truck and get them myself, they (AJW and FFR) are about 6-7h drive (12-13 back and forth).
The only problem is I have nothing to get the crates, frame and all that stuff out of the truck. lolll I really have nothing in common with Hulk Hogan!

All you need is a extra hand. 2 guys are strong enough to pick up the frame and ffr components. Put the pallets on a dolly and there you go.
