Parking brake cables question
I am at the build school this weekend. Using F5 rear brakes ( 11.65 gt kit )
See pic below. I cannot believe this is the correct way to run e-brake cables. We have callipers on front side of axle as per instructions (left on right and right on left). We were instructed to run cables forward from handle below and around the rear axle then up between the shock mount and shock to callipers
There has to be another solution. This is unacceptable to me. Looks like .....
Help. I'd like to go back to class with a solution for tomorrow.

Thanks Ollie for the reply. Sorry I could load the picture right away... Hotel Internet went out for a minute. In any case Kevin Shea, owner of the black full fender coupe F5 uses as their poster child (#50) sent pics of his to me by email and I spoke with him to confirm this is how they can go...

Much better.

Nick,
Is your HR a 3 link? If so, you will find that you will have better options for where to clamp the cables to. I will see if I can find some pictures of mine....

Nick,
I found this picture that was already re-sized. A little hard to see but the cables are clamped above the 3-link tripod. I will see if I have better pictures.

Hey Ollie. I know this subject has come up before but is there a benefit to running the calipers toward the front or rear? i noticed yours are toward the front and the e-brake cables seem to fit better than mine. Mine are mounted toward the rear and have a lot of extra cable to contend with. Any info would be great. Thanks

From a brake performance standpoint I don't think that it matters whether the caliper is at the front or rear of the rotor. With the HR, positioning the caliper at the front simplfies the installation of both the hydraulic line and the e-brake cable.

That makes sense. Having said that, Can I just swap the brackets and calipers from side to side to accomplish this?

Left on Right and Right on Left. Done!
I was told at build school that if they are mount on rear side of axle, in time when pads wear, the caliper would/could bump into springs.

Thanks for the info. It looks like it should be a pretty straight forward swap but I think I have to cut off a couple of mounts that aren't used. I might have to consider it. Thanks

If you did it for appearance only. They don't interfere at allimage.jpg

Hmmm. Interesting. I will probably swap them just for the fact that the cables have a lot of slack when the calipers are on the rear. Thanks Nick.

Mine are in the rear and I have no problems.
