Help : Ron Francis connection to EFI harness

My apologies in advance for this dumb question - I am stuck on the simple things:

Working on a MKIV roadster basic package + donor Mustang. I purchased the Ron Francis harness from FFR. Page 10 of the manual says (my emphasis in yellow):

I think this means I need to connect this:

    to this:

The connection plug differences suggest that my understanding is not correct. Can someone steer me right?

The EFI connectors shown are the thermister/thermactor (aka salt and pepper connections). I don't think they are the ones you are looking for. Help is on the way.

"These aren't the droids you're looking for."

What should I look for? Different harness?

The "crank only" and "crank & run" wires from the EFI harness are in the "main" EFI harness, not the "engine" harness. The diagram you posted is the engine harness.

Pete, I think this is the diagram you are referring to, correct?

That pic is the main harness (the whole thing, not just the circled part).

    Connector 31:
    - Red/Light Blue and White/Purple go to crank-only power
    - Red/Light Green to crank & run power

    Connector 39:
    - Grey/Yellow to run only power

Just to confirm - this is what I need to do with #31, #39 and the Blue and Orange wires from Ron Francis where:
Orange = Coil or Run Power
    Lt Blue = Crank

    Ron Francis Wires:

    Brown Connector #31 & Green Connector #39

    Spliced result

Is my understanding correct? Do I need to find the male side of the connector and splice or just cut into the wires and bypass the female connector? Do I need to preserve any other wires in #31 or #39?

I am amazed this level of detail is missing from the Ron Francis manual.

I don't have a RF harness, so just guessing here, but I think you just want the orange wire (not orange and blue) to R/G on connector 31. Coil power would have to be both crank and run otherwise the engine wouldn't start if there was no power when cranking. Other wires are correct.

I just cut the connectors off and spliced the wires. There are some other wires to those connectors you might need to use. Do you have the entire Ford EFI manual? It tells you step-by-step what wires to hook up where. I scanned my manual - PM your e-mail and I can send you a copy. Another really good reference here: http://oldfuelinjection.com/?p=6

Edit: here's the pages that tell you what to do with the other wires and connectors 31 & 39:

Has anyone else done this? Successfully used both a Ron Francis chassis harness with a Mustang Main EFI harness?

When I talked to ffr about this very issue before I ordered the harnesses I was told the mustang harness must be made into a stand alone harness, you can talk to Dan at FFR about it.

Hi Jake, I am following in your footsteps a few years later with the same harnesses and the same exact questions about connecting the RF harness to the Ford EFI harness. Besides the two wires addressed above (orange and lt blue), did you connect in the two speed sensor wires (grey and green) and the purple wire from the RF harness? Thx. Gene
