Full fenders and running boards in NJ
Has anyone completed the Title/registration process in NJ with full fenders and running boards? I hear nothing can be below the frame. I also heard rumors the running boards are below the frame. Any info or experience? I also wonder this about the 35 truck.
Thank you,

Hi,
I live in Jersey and just ordered a kit car. Here is a useful link on what the process is. https://factory5roadster.wordpress.c...j-state-legal/
Also, call Joe at the Asbury park inspection station, he is very helpful and will spend time with you answering your questions. I’ve called him twice and had my list of questions prepared and he explained things very clearly.

The running boards do hang 1.25" below the frame on the 33 and the front and rear fenders match that height where they bolt
to the boards. IF the state gets hung up on that it would be fairly easy to add an 1.5" sq. tube to the bottom of the chassis down
each side. A few holes drilled and tapped from the bottom would hold the extra tubes in place until the inspection was done.
If they fell off after that who's to know I've always felt that the frame should be low enough to protect those boards anyway.

So....reading the NJ requirements...everything must be 2" above the lower wheel lip. Does anyone know if the running boards would pass that requirement? Could I raise the ride height with the coilovers to make it then let the ride height settle in (wink wink)? Or run 20's?..lol I over think things....

Hi Nick,
I know this is 10 months old thread, but I did just get my papers and plates for NJ. I took the running boards off and left the fenders on as they hit the trailer when loading. Went to Asbury Park, Joe did not have a problem with it. Car passed and I received my plates in early December 2018. (sent original paperwork in on August 1, did not get an inspection date til October , then battled with the Foreign Title Unit until they had everything. They seemed very disorganized, could not find papers I had sent, ect. Anyway, now over and need better weather, lol
Good Luck,
Tom
