Missing Coyote engine mount spacers
Well, just like the title says I was not given the Coyote engine mount spacers at least as far as I can tell. In box 28 I had the hood hinge hardware and the engine/trans mounts. There were no spacers in there and I cannot find anything listed in my kit list.
I reached out to FFR but will not hear back until Monday. I'm holding out hope they are shipped in some weird location and I just missed them. Where were yours if you had a Coyote? Do you remember what they were packed with? I have a half installed coyote and could use an assist.
Thanks

Did you order the Coyote installation kit? They're a part of that.

They were in box 28 for me, and I did order the Coyote installation kit. When I pivoted to a SBF, I sent back my Coyote motor mounts, and I think I probably threw those spacers in the box with the motor mounts. I know I sold you all my Coyote stuff, and I now realize I should've sent you those spacers, too. Let me know how much you have to pay for them from FFR, and I'll reimburse you. It's the right thing to do.

Thanks Paul,
I just found an old thread (ironically enough, that you responded to about this) that said that. I did not, there was a forum member that changed engines and didn't need it anymore so I purchased it from him. Looks like the engine spacers didn't make it.
But this brings up another point. Why would items needed to make the engine fit not be part of the complete kit? I configured my kit to a Coyote, this isn't a nice to have I can source somewhere else these are required to marry the engine to the mounts they welded to the frame.
I sent FFR an email asking for the spacers. I could try and make my own but I'm not confident I wont make it worse. I thought about spacers between the mounts and the block but I just don't know.
Thanks for the response. Sorry for the rant, I am a feeling a little defeated.
**Edit** I originally went a little too far in expressing my frustration. I modified my post to take some of the mustard off if it.

Thanks man, that's a stand up gesture. Let's see what FFR says.

You bet. I also just looked at the rest of the parts I have left, and I have this Coyote tranny mount spacer. Found it in one of my POL boxes. I'll send it to you if you send me your address again.

No they sent me that one. I assume they did because the transmission doesn’t fit without it. Seems strange that line of thinking doesn’t apply to the engine.
I’m sure FFR will make it right. They always have in my experience. I think they should re think how they configure those parts. I should get mounts that fit my engine…. Period.

True. If they make you pay for 'em, I got you covered.

Because they are unique to the engine, hence why they are part of the Coyote fitment option.

So is the transmission mount that comes with the kit. They sell you engine mounts that don’t fit the car. It’s not a convenience thing. It’s the part that adapts the engine to the proprietary chassis they designed. It’s not like I can order these from Ford.
If they want me to buy it extra fine, communicate that. I’m as pro figure it out as the next guy. First time in 2 builds I feel like FFR let me down. They will make it right but this isn’t my fault.

Why would the send a part specific to a specific engine with every frame? When you order, you specify what engine you plan on using. Unless you told them it was for a Coyote, it's not their fault, or it was just a shipping mistake.

That’s correct. I configured the kit as a coyote. I ordered coyote headers and a complete kit that comes with coyote engine mounts that don’t fit. In order to make them fit you need a set of spacers they don’t send you unless you buy an optional “install kit”. This is my beef. The install kit is completion parts like brackets for the computer, hoses, intake parts. If they are needed to make the engine fit they should come with the kit or they should tell you that you need them when you order. It’s a weird thing to exclude. My engine is now in the car but I can’t secure it. I have to get the spacers I didn’t know I needed, pull the mounts and re install.
I completely get it. Sometimes you don’t have what you need or need to be creative. But I have 600 lbs of drivetrain in my chassis just dangling in there. I will definitely get over it but i am justified in being a little annoyed.

For what it's worth, mine came with my kit. I can double check my inventory and see what box they came in if you wish. Just to double check.

Thanks, that’s good to hear. Just means that mine were not shipped by accident vs design. Either way like anything it’s better after a day has passed. I built a platform of sorts and am supporting the engine underneath with a jack. Most of my anxiety about this was trying to figure out what to do in the mean time while I waited.
All will be well that ends well.

I received one as well with my Coupe-R, but I did not specify anything Coyote.

I spoke with FFR this morning. The sales rep I have been working with is selling me a set of spacers. I pointed out that this seems like unless you purchase the Coyote completion kit you are being setup to fail. There are clearly limits to what a front line customer service person can do for you. He said he would bring it up to management but that FFR had configured it this way. This is the only engine combination you can order here where they send you mounts that don't fit. They are charging me $160 and will send them out today (I hope). I know it's highly unpopular around here to criticize FFR. I have seen how that usually goes. I will move on after this.
My guess is 95% of people who order this purchase the kit as well. I did say at the kit review I should have been made aware of the consequences of not purchasing the kit. He agreed.
Where I have to take responsibility is it says to install them in the supplemental instructions. I read over this a number of times and missed it somehow. That's on me, so it's my own fault the engine went in without all the parts needed, but as it turns out I did not have those parts by design. Lesson learned. So at the end of the day we both could clean this up a little.

Jessie - I did determine this morning my spacers were the 3rd item down on the 3rd page of the Box 28 inventory sheets. This box is made up of all those Coyote related parts. I can send you a scan if you like so you can confirm any other unpleasant surprises.
For what it's worth, I agree with your comments above. As others have seen in my build thread, I wanted to source a 3.73 Torsen diff for my coupe which is not available from FF. In not selecting the differential option, I inadvertently eliminated the knuckles for the IRS even though I ordered the IRS option - kind of frustrating - but totally my fault as I didn't pay close enough attention to the details.
I would like to see FF revise their ordering screen to have "flags" built into it that would alert the buyer to "hey, it looks like you selected this but deselected that so you won't get XYZ". Sort of like when you renew insurance at your work every year and there are simply options you can't choose because you chose others or will alert you that you are missing something.

Got you covered, Jesse. This was my fault. I will say that when you order a kit, FFR is supposed to have a call with the customer to verify all their chosen options. I would think something like this should be caught in that pre-order kit review. If you order Coyote engine mounts but not the installation kit, you can't install your Coyote. It's an opportunity for FFR to improve the order process. All good now, though. Can't wait to see videos of your first start, brother.
