Completed the driver's side footbox plastic lining panels. They look like embossed leather and come from E Z Boy Interior Products and are ABS 1/8" thick plastic board. 2 sheets 32" x 44" at $29.95 each, minimum 2 sheet order. You can put them in a sheet metal brake , heat them with a heat gun and they bend very easy and neat. Very easy to install with SS screws and finish washers. Can weld them together to create larger pieces and can upholster them if you wish. I've made door panels out of them and think I might do the side of the trunk with them. Still waiting in line for final body finish sanding and paint so I'm doing lots of odds and ends. The weather hasn't been cooperating here either for moving the body (like 35 1/2" snowstorm recently and again 2 days later with another 8"). makes me think I'm in Alaska!!!

John - I like those seats, and agree it will be a great match to your theme!
Bill - Any pictures of the plastic things for your footbox?
I did some misc. stuff. I am sort of in a lazy mood. Not sure if it is weather or stress at work - or what. Anyway, I decided to do something different and painted and assembled the e-brake handle.... started to figure out where the A/C unit will fit, and worked on the IRS lower control arm, using advice from the forum. . .

Howdy,
Nothing! I guess that's because a don't a Coupe but I do have a Spyder. The Spyder Forum is DEAD so I'll post here.
Sunday I made a cover for my trans tunnel.
And today I removed it.
Sorry, no pics. I painted the underside of my tunnel covers ( Hey! I want them to look nice incase I run over someone! ).
I have to secure my fuel lines and power cables before I seal the trans tunnel, which I worked on today.
I'm getting thinks done one day at a time.

Not much work this weekend - but my IRS brake adapter plates finally arrived. I did a "dry-fit" of the parts and decided it should work. I am concerned about the fastener access now that The Factory changed the Allen button head bolts to "normal" hex-head bolts. I prepped and painted the brackets and will hard-assemble them in the next build session.

This week I took the body off for the final time, welded up 2 small side bumpers as required by the trans dept., removed the trunk rear panel to make light install easier, levelled out the driveshaft angle into specs, replaced all my nylon locknuts with stover locknuts (required by law here) , aligned the front end, trimmed the body openings, finished my light pigtails at each corner, fixed my ebrake length issue (cables are 1.25" too short) with a longer clevis, and began installing my heat shileding on the footboxes. Trimmed and hung the doors. These red bodies must be a huge improvement as we only spent about an hour per side.
Howdy Wayne,
The switches are Allen-Bradley 800FM-SM22 and there are several places on the 'Net that sells them. Since I'm going for a mid to late sixties sports car look I thought they would fit my "theme" better than toggle switches.

We'll I put in the 3/8" freeze plug to fill the dip stick hole in the block.
Now I'm working on the new dip stick.
Also noticed that one of the axle seals in my rear end is leaking. After all that now it needs to come apart again. Note to all: if you have a donor rear end, don't cheap out like me and do it all right away!
Very little time lately so small steps.
It also appears there's break fluid coming through the brake booster in to the foot box. What could casue that?

I had the same problem only on the exterior of the footbox. It drove me crazy unti one day I noticed the remote reservoir rubber hose feed lines to the cylinders were loose on the fittings. Put some small hose clamps on all and problem resolved. Might check there first.

Thank you. I should take a look at those. I bought some of these Klixon circuit breakers - they are rated at 10A, but these will drive relays (or MOSFETs) so the rating don't much matter. These are used in aircraft and other military applications. But I am not sure how long they will last if used as an on/off switch.
Here's a poor picture of one:

Wayne, looking good. Great progress. Are you going to make some kind of access for the driver side foot box? I made a small one and hindsight I wish I had made the whole top removable...well not the whole thing but the top from the edge of the body forward.

Yes. I just shaved a very small amount off the corners. I suppose a file would have worked, and probably safer. Be careful, though - only a tiny amount needs to be taken off. Then I made a cut from the corner and went on a diagonal to the center hole - see picture below. Then slipped the cable inside, then smashed the plastic square thing into the hole.

I got the idea of adding a washer over the mounting hole from CJBergquist - just for looks.... There is a smaller washer inside the fender washer that you don't see in the picture.

Hi Chris -
Yes. I am planning on making the "roof" of that section remove-able. I measured QSL's new kit and will slice that section off. Then make an inverted V shape cover. I was thinking of hinging that piece, but then figured that I would likely end up removing the entire section anyway if I had to work inside there.
Interesting note on the newest crop of kits -- the Factory has pre-cut an access hole on that section - but I don't recall if it is on the outside or the inside of the box.

I didn't realize how much work is needed to fit these panels into place. I must say, however, that these panels in the Gen 2 kit (red body, round tube chassis) seem to fit better than the black body versions. It is still a crazy patchwork quilt!
I had a real tough time fitting the floors into place - even with twisting and bending, putting the floor down meant scratching the heck out of the side panels. So I cut them into 2 or 3 pieces. I hope this will be OK.
Nothing is siliconed and riveted yet, I am dry-fitting first.
QUESTION: Does the passenger foot box "float" above the chassis tubes? I have almost 2 inches of space between the front chassis tube and the bottom of the passenger foot box - should I add some aluminum spacers or something in there to fasten the bottoms of the foot boxes to the chassis?
As always, more details are posted on my WordPress site, http://wayneyoshida-kh6wz.com/

I'll bet those will look good with the red frame. You are moving along nicely now that the weather is better. I'm still laboring away on the interior panels. All I've got left in the cockpit is the passenger rear bhd panel and the driver side pillar cover. The panels actually came out great. Then on to the trunk. Body goes to upholstery shop for headliner Mon morning then off to the body shop for final bodywork and paint. Then chassis back to upholstery for carpeting. Then reassembly!!!
