I aligned my car this weekend with some help from local builders (this community is great) and took it out for a drive yesterday. I have +7.5 caster, -0.5 camber, and 1/8" toe in. It runs straight but requires a bit of effort to engage a turn, almost like I am driving in grooves and have to get out of them. But once I begin a turn, the steering becomes rather loose and twitchy. I think I need to dial back the caster a little but am concerned my power steering components are not mated correctly. I ordered the complete kit from FFR with power steering rack and a BPE engine from Factoryfiveengines, so assumed the PS pump and rack would be mated up. When I called BPE, they said it is a GM style pump putting out 1200 psi at 2.5 gpm. FFR tells me their PS racks are for 87-93 mustangs, and he thinks the pressure should be 800psi. I could not find the actual pressure for an 87-93 mustang rack listed anywhere, so either he is correct and I may need a proportioning valve, or he was mistaken and things are matched correctly and I need to work on the alignment again.
Can anyone confirm the pressure for an 87-93 rack? or, any other tips?
Thanks
JJ
