super charger on 33 hotrod
I am getting ready to order my engine. I was wondering if anyone out there in 33 land has installed a modern supercharger (i.e Kenne bell) with intercooler heat exchanger. It seems to me that there will be issues with locating the heat exchanger in the small space of the engine bay. Has anyone tackled that issue and can they give a poor soul some advice? Thanks!

I'm building mine now with a BMW S65 V8 and a Rotrex C38 supercharger. Looks like C&R is going to make me a custom radiator with a 4 inch core, inlets and outlets on the top with a notch for the tubing to the plenum and twin fans to nest properly with the air to air intercooler and the tubing. Stay tuned, still working out the kinks.

If you use a supercharger that runs off the crankshaft pulley, it won't work. There is not enough room to add a pulley. The steering rack is in the way,

My motor and rack are in and not running power air/steer, and if memory served correct, the S65 was shorter than the Coyote, so looked like more than enough room during mock up, but will triple check over the weekend. No view on other configurations. Thanks -- I

That's why I like the 4.6, plenty of room for a 3" blower drive (and a/c compressor)

Don't have one, it's old school 6-71. I know I could get one, but it would need a spacer and I don't want it any taller than it already is. The air temp does go up under boost but it's a street car so it's not for sustained periods of time.

Took a while, but the Rotrex blower, and the pulleys are all mounted. Room for 8 rib. Don't know about the Coyote, but on the BMW S65 a centrifugal fits. Was work though getting it laid out with the frame the way it is. Had the local NAPA had an 8 rib 61" belt, it'd be on, but I'll have it from Summit in time for next weekend - I

I've been watching your build. Very cool. I mostly post and have a build page up on the other forum, but since this post have gotten the belts and all finished. Added a pulley and had a balanced spacer made for the water pump pulley to clear the oil lines. Here's how it looks finished.

Awesome! That belt doesn't look like it gets confused running around the blower. The temptation to pressurize is hard to resist. hmmm little twin turbos are dancing in my head...

Twin turbos would be alot of fun. Been some cobras, but I don't think a 33 yet. Driver's side is brake and clutch reservoirs, passenger is a reservoir and filter for the separate oil system for the blower.--I

i'm using the Ford 4.6 Mod motor with an air/water intercooler. fan and radiator are mounted under the oil pan and the water tank is infront of the engine front pully. plent of room.

Hello, Im in the same boat planing for an engine for my soon to be 33, Im looking at getting a coyote and adding an edelbrock supercharger. from what michael everson said, and i could be miss reading this, the coyote would be unable to fit a pulley driven super charger due to the height of the hood or some other interference? Thank you.

From little I know about the Edelbrock setup, I think the rotor section is sunken down in the valley to keep height down. You are correct though with the other style superchargers, that's why FFR came out with the optional bumped hood a while ago.

The real issue with the pulley driven units is the clearance between the lower pulley and the steering rack. The rack is fixed and does not give you much room to play with although some have moved it forward a little. The Coyote is probably too large for it. As Chuck mentioned, the 4.6L will allow it.

Wow....that sucker is tight against the block, tons of room. Wish my SBC had room like that. Never realized they had no external balancer. Sweet.
