Does the gas tank have to be removed in order to mount the coupe body on the chassie
The body will need to be trimmed 2-3 inches at the rear of the gas tank to fit. It will not go on with the tank installed without trimming.
Firesmith:
First thanks for the info. I was also wondering after I read your tweet, Can the g tank be reinstalled if the body was put on w/ the tank remover.
Can the fuel tank be put on with the tank remover? I'll take that as a typo for removed. It would be difficult but anything CAN be done with enough work but why make it worse? And because it is such a PIA to remove or put on with the body in place I put hatches over the the fuel sender as well as the fuel pump so if either take a dump on you you can repair it from above the car through the hatch. Just a thought.
Do you have a pic of the body after it will has been trimmed? I'm curious as to what & where trimming begins and ends.
I am curios
Hi,
Here are some pictures of where I cut on mine.
Got it on and it doesn't hit. Showing the tank sticking out the bottom

Hey, thanks for the pics. I can see from your pics that my fuel tank is a lot different than yours. When in position my fuel tank does not extend below the body line. In fact, it is easy for me to install the tank with the body on the frame. All four mounting points for the straps are easily accessible with the body on the frame. I took delivery of my coupe March 2016. I suspect FFR made some changes in their tank configuration. Let me know if you have any questions, or want pics.
