How old is your kit? They made changes to the footbox within the past year or 2...
FFR 5369 Pin Drive, IRS, Trigos, Torsen, Wilwoods, FMS BOSS 302 "B" cam , Mass-flo. CA SB100 (SPCN) Registered
Delivered 4/23/06. "Finished" 4/2012 (still not done!)
Kit is early MK4 Summer 2010.
I have a 3/8 spacer between mount and frame on driver side already.
Engine is offset to passenger side 1"-1.5" with reference of crank center-line and 4" tubes.
I would not think i need to cut and re-weld engine mounts....
David is correct, here is a pic of mine with the newer footbox

Unless you want to change out the sheet metal for the newer version, you are stuck with the rub. A 1/2" spacer under the DS mount may get a tiny bit of clearance. If it were me, I would opt for the newer sheet metal which will fix the engine rub and get more foot room on the inside. I think FFR sells the set for about $100. With the new metal, the engine can be leveled with the same spacer under both mounts and the side pipes will fit much better.

Just to be sure...your motor mounts aren't swapped to the wrong sides are they? On the driver's side the locating pin will fall into the slot below the stud. Passenger side will have the pin to the rear of the mount stud. The engine and trans are offset to the passenger side by design.

Thanks for the reply's I've opted for new metal from FF.
