Weather-proof around fuel cap
From the photos in the supplemental section, the fuel cap seems to lack a seal around it to prevent leaking around it when it rains. I know this is a fair weather vehicle but I still would like to keep the trunk dry when the is inclement weather. Does any one have suggestions for weather-proofing the gas cap?

Your cap should have come with a rubber gasket that goes between the outer flange and the body. That gasket, combined with the ring of mounting screws, makes it a tight seal. It shouldn't leak.

This is on an FIA Paul which is a different configuration where the cap mounts to a pedestal, not the body. I'd be tempted to use the sticky, gooey expanding foam that FFR intends for the area in front of the doors and place it so that it could fill the void but back far enough not to be visible from above.
Good luck,
Jeff

Check any intended product for resistance to gasoline. Some products will dissolve almost instantly, while others won't. I'd have to see a picture of the setup to comment.
I have a body mounted marine flip top cap and didn't want an ugly gasket, so I used some permatex #2, fuel resistant and nonhardening sealer. I also made sure that the body was perfectly flat where the cap mounted.

Oops. My bad. Saw that it was an FIA but didn't know that detail was different. You know what they say about assuming.

Why not mount it to the body as per Erik and Eric on their 289s. That is what I am doing.
