need help with electrical
let me start by apologizing, i ask for help often and rarely am i ever able to return the favor.
ok so here is my issue i bout my 92x aero and i am shaking it down for about 6 months before tear down. I had an AC belt start Squelling replaced both belts while i was there about 3 weeks ago. today my brake and battery light started flickering. Did my research thought ok need to replace alternator but i started messing with wires and checking with the multimeter and car off showing 12.8 car on showing 15.0 ac and lights on around 13.8 just light 14.7 so all looks good but now the battery and brake lights remain illuminated.
What did i do?
How can i fix?

Probably just a coincidence, but I had almost the exact same scenario with my 818 after I started it this week. I could write a long story, but the bottom line is that one of the pins on the 3-pin connector on the alternator is broken off. The pins are rusty and it must have been brittle and broken off when I disconnected and reconnected the alternator. You could have the same issue, or something similar like a loose connector. Good luck tracking it down.

It almost sounds like a bad or loose ground wire somewhere

what do those 2 wires do? is it just the sensor?
Ill probably take the alternator and battery to have them tested at auto zone saturday morning to be safe.

The 3 pin connector on the alternator is part of the field current supply (voltage regulator). The bat. warning light is on this circuit. It is required (afaik) because the alt has an internal voltage regulator.

On the STI, I believe the 3rd pin is used to disable the alt under WOT.

Thank you everyone little update
On the way out of the house I started it up and no warning lights. Didn't have time for a quick drive but I'll do that this evening. So assuming my wires are not broken.
I tried reading the service manual to see what the wires did and I became totally confused I do not understand in car electrical at all.

The brake light is shared with the ebrake and fluid level in the master cylinder sensor. The wires on the alternator should be batt large 8ish gauge wire with ring terminal, switched power and warning light in 3 pin connector.

This is pretty common. If anyone runs into this we have replacement alternator connector kits - http://www.iwireservices.com/product...lternator-1999
Old battery could cause that too.
