    818R Competition Chassis Gallery Posted

Our buddy Dino Petrocelli finished up a week of chassis photography by shooting our 818R frame in competition white powdercoating. Here are some shots of the 818R frame.

Front 3/4 view shows the tubular steel space-frame construction with crash protection and integral full width roll cage.

Side impact door bars render doors non-operational.

Looks nice. But still haven't addressed the main hoop on an open tube issue.

Is the open tube really an issue? Or is it that it isn't an uninterrupted tube? I'm not really familiar with NASA/SCCA club regs.

I was quite disappointed to see the Gen3 '65 Coupe also has the same design but without the open end. At least it has door bars and "hopefully" the ability to egress if you land on your lid. I say "hopefully" because there really isn't proper triangulation back to the chassis ground plane and the thing is a birdcage. I had really given thought to building one when I heard there was a gen3 coming out but really have no intentions of doing so now.

NASA Actually called FFR when I had mine suggesting it be changed/modded..... They don't listen apparently and you have to fix it on your own.
    Thanks- Chad
