    Colorado State Patrol Inspections

Have any Colorado builders gone through the state inspection process? If so, can you share your experience? Does Colorado require windshield wipers, and if so, are the manual "clamp-on" type acceptable?

    Thanks,
    Dave

    Hi Dave,

Did you ever get an answer to this question? I'm in the planning stages of a build here in Denver and would like to omit the wipers if possible.

    Thanks!

    Carl

    Carl,

According to the Colorado statutes, wipers are required. However, it doesn't specify that they have to be automatic, only that they must be operable by the driver. I believe that based on that, you could install manual wipers that can be attached and removed as needed.

    Dave

Edit: Here is a link to another thread where I posted the statutes:

    https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/show...l=1#post294334

Specifically: 42-4-227 states: The windshield on every motor vehicle shall be equipped with a device for cleaning rain, snow, or other moisture from the windshield, which device shall be so constructed as to be operated by the driver of the vehicle.

I went through process on my roadster a few years back. I had wipers so not an issue. I am ordering pickup and don't want to install wipers, but we will see.

One of my friends went through the process and said the inspector told him that if wipers were installed they had to work. If there were none installed, no problem. Not sure how accurate that is and if it depends on the inspector.

yeah, I also need to look into that but it seems impossible to get real info and it seems to really depends on the inspector and his mood. I have an R, so no windshield.... Can't get an answer as if it would be ok not to have one if I wear eye protection....
