Wheel and Tire Recommendations - '33 Hot Rod
Wheel and Tire Recommendations - '33 Hot Rod
Note: These values represent wheels and tires used by Factory Five on the ’33 Hot Rod and do not imply any limits on max / min diameters, widths, backspacing, etc. Anyone referencing this information can be confident that using a wheel of the size listed below will work, but that other sizes may also fit.
Information is separated into groups of wheels/tires used on Hot Rods without fenders and those with fenders, and it is also important to note that this information is based on using a standard width (59.25”) Ford 8.8” solid axle.
Hot Rods Without Fenders:
Torq-Thurst M wheels
Rear: 20X10 295/30-20, 6.88” backspace / 35mm offset
Front: 17X8 245/40-17, 5.33” backspace / 30mm offset
Notes: Purchased from Tire Rack. Rears used with 1” spacer for body clearance (brake clearance was not an issue). Wheels were only available in 6.88” backspace.
Billet Specialties Apex-G wheels
Front: 18X9 255/35-18, 5.5” backspace
Rear: 20X12 335/30-20, 5.75” backspace
Notes: Purchased from Billet Specialties, ordered with Mustang Cobra brake clearance
IForged Seneka wheels
Front: 18X9.5 275/35-18, 6” backspace
Rear: 19X11 305/30-19, 6” backspace
Notes: Nickel Silver center finish with polished lip. 255 width would be more ideal than the 275 used.
Hot Rods With Fenders:
The following wheel and Tire recommendations will allow the wheels and tires to fit under the optional Fenders:
Front maximum wheel width and Backspacing: 9.00” with 5.50” Backspace
Front maximum tire width: 255mm
Rear maximum wheel width and Backspacing: 11.00” with 6.00” Backspace
Rear maximum tire width: 315mm
Front / Rear maximum tire diameter: 25.7”

What adjustments to these measurements if using a 2004 rear axle (62.5")?

How does using the 2015 IRS affect the "With Fenders" recommendations? Thanks, Keith

What bolt pattern and hub bore did you all go with?
-
For the IRS I'm using 5x4.5 bolt pattern.
The wheels I purchased for my full fender '33 are:
Front, Torq Thrust II, 17x8, Backspace 5.48", VN8157867 Chrome PVD, Tires are 235/45/17
Rear, Torq Thrust II, 18x10 Backspace 5.75", VN8158165 Chrome PVD, Tires are 295/35/18
These clear the FFR Ford supplied brakes. The hub bore of these wheels are 83mm, the OD of the hub 70.4mm.
Anyone know if there are hub centric rings are available for these wheels or if they really aren't needed?
Update:
NAZ said hub centric rings are not required.
