Connecting Front Splash Guards to F-Panels
I am planning to use nutserts to attach the splash guards to the f-panels and was wondering if it makes sense to do that while the body is off the car? I'm assuming that regardless of the massaging needed to get a good fit with the body on that the f-panel attachment is a fixed point. Are my assumption misguided?

Depends how you trim the splash guards for best fit to the body. If you have predrilled holes for nutserts that may limit your trim options. Ask me how I know!

Hey Dave, I drilled and installed the nutserts while the body was off the car on my 289. I encountered very little issue in fitting them after the body was on. In my case, it worked out. Joel

Scott,
Would enlarging the holes on the splash guard if needed have solved the issues you encountered? It's pretty tight in there with the body on for the nutsert tool.

Joel,
That's what I was hoping to hear, but don't want to make any errors that are difficult to recover from at this stage in my build.

I used nutserts and installed them with the body on, it wasn’t hard, I’d suggest waiting just in case, it won’t make your life much easier with the body off
I installed with Clecos first then went back and made the holes bigger.

Not a waxer
There is flex in both the body and splash panel which allows for some "fudge factor". Never say never but I've yet to encounter any significant issues with panel to body interface when the splash panel is keyed to the F as intended. Go ahead---if necessary I'll deal with it

And the tie breaker goes to … the guy that is going to reassemble it after he paints it!
