Tape residue and marker remover ?
After several years just removing the red duct tape from body panels on my MkIV and have areas where there is tape residue left behind and also black marker in other areas.
Having not dealt with gel coat before what is a safe cleaner to use to remove this ?

Acetone or lacquer thinner will remove the marker quickly. Goo-Gone works best on the tape adhesive. Let it sit for a few minutes.

Another option is wax and grease remover. I used it and it worked pretty quick.

Wax and grease remover is kissing cousins to Mineral Spirits and Turpentine those work also. The trick is slow drying. I like slow paint reducer but that's easy for me to get, Soak a gag and slowly "wet up" the tape glue. Plastic scraper or old bondo spreader work well to get the bulk off then it's rubbing with a rag. If I get one that's really old and dried on I grind it off but that's as a last resort. None of the products will hurt the gel coat...da Bat

Patting the residue with fresh duct tape will take most of it off.
