Would you let me know where you bought the brackets for the trunk? Or, did you actually fabricate them yourself? I just noticed them in your recent set of pictures.

    Thanks

not sure what brackets you see but the aluminum ones with the holes in it are from Michael everson of replicarparts. check with him or do a search for engine cover hinges.

I like your side mirrors. What are they?
Also, I bought the quick release hood pins like you, but what did you do to extend them. Looks like you welded to a 1/2 in threaded rod so you could adjust height?

    Looking good.

Thanks, as for the Hood pins there are extended with a welded on bolt and they work pretty good.

And as for the mirros they are CIPA mirrors, they is a place in Port Huron MI, I actually found mine at a Princess Auto store in there surplus section for 12 bucks each. It comes with colored bulbs and you can wire the light up as a signal or running light. I did the signal with amber bulbs. It looks goog you can see the signal on the glass side of the mirror as well (small lens)

update. Its been a really busy summer with work and family stuff so not much got done. now I am going away for work till Christmas but I did get most of the interior together and its is coming along great. I am wet sanding it and polishing it next week before I leave. this winter I am gonna get the paperwork/licencing stuff done and build a few other trinkets to finish for the spring. the pics are a little old as the whole interior is in but I have not done updated pics yet.

I can hardly see but what solution have you put in place to fill the hole between the engine cover front and twin-bolts bracket on the frame? Did you use FFR alu panel, the one as triangle shape?

thanks guys, the door panel inserts, switch panel, shifter plate and cup holders are real carbon fiber. i bought a finished sheet of carbon fiber and cut it up. I also made some carbon fiber 5's for hood emblems and fender emblems.

    Frank

I cut up the ones supplied by factory five to build a filler piece and rivited it to the frame. turned out pretty good.

today I got lots of wet sanding done and hope to actually get it polished this week before I leave.

Shawn you are welcome to pop in anytime if I am here I travel for work a bunch. As for driving it. I have been driving all around the neighbor hood for awhile now but I will probably wait till the spring and get the safety done and plates on it. there are a few things to make and do this winter, splitters/windscreen for behind the driver/passenger, bump steer, install bluetooth amp and speakers.

Ok so I am sure most of you have seen the finished car but I wanted to post a few of the finished pics and close out the build blog, It has been a great 2.5 years and to finally be at the point that i will have it on the road and enjoy it is awsome. I hope anyone interested in building a car to do so and use this forum as part of your building tools. there are alot of great people and ideas on here, maybe sometimes to many good ideas that can cost you more money! but great ideas.

the last thing I picked up was a factory five steering wheel and adapter last week and am installing now and it to will have a small carbon fiber 5 symbol in the horn button

If any of you are in or around the London/Strathroy Ontario Canada later and want to take a peak feel free to drop me a line.

Also there is a video from the london speed show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cia8jaAUjP8

I like your attention to detail and glad to hear that you enjoy it after the build! I am having a lot of fun building and hope I enjoy it after as well. Getting it to drive well will be a big part of that and I hope it is not too squirrely (bumpsteer, etc)

    Any things awesome here!
But the rear end is great! The muffler and tips.
Excellent style 3rd brake light! Too bad it's not SAE approved, I'd pay 500 bucks easily to get that on mine!

Well after some time I am going to resurrect my build thread, I have a busy winter coming up. the future plans for the next 3 months are to do the complete coupe conversion (thanks Howard aka HOJO) and to do aftermarket camry headlights, carbon fiber overlay on the top of the roof and possibly a new center console (not sure the old one can be removed if need be now I will have a roof) the plan is to have it at the London speed and custom show here in Ontario for Mar 2019. again I will be posting pics of the process. I got the roof and components home yesterday. and today I will start the tear down to do the build up.

my plan it to build it as a full time coupe and not switch back and forth for coupe to roadster.

again a big thanks to HOJO for running the roof to buffalo it made the drive much shorter. look forward to seeing your build and welcome to the 818 family.

    stay posted

Here is the first go at the mod. I have the roof fitted and adjusted. Installed the carbon fiber overlay on the roof and did the first layer of epoxy. I have been toying with the idea of having a removable roof section around and along the backedge of the roof scoop ducting
Kind of a nice day open of closed section to let the sunshine in
Also note I got the carbon done in a pattern down the center.

If you get some time, we would like to hear and see what you used for carbon fiber and how you fit it and finished it. It looks great.

well it has taken some time for me to sit down and write this up and put in pics. I finally got the coupe conversion done last month, still working the head liner and a few small things but it is complete. I am not super happy with the power windows I with they were not so flimsy and sealed a bit better but they so work. I love the new look of the car and it is much better as a coupe but harder to get in and out of for sure. they carbon overlay on the roof was a great hit. not sure whats next for this car might be time to move on to the next project. cheers
