I've had the same happen with raised white letter tires and have used Westley's Bleach White to restore the bright white color. Just wet the tire, spray it on the letters, brush with a nylon brush and rinse with water.

+1 on the patina.......
I have Avon tires on mine with the old-school sprayed lettering and they have taken on a really cool faded patina over time.

X3 on patina. The real thing is just sprayed on and even then is just dull white. Bright white with clean sharp edges pretty much announces itself as fake.
