    Very interesting. Initially, I thought this was accidental. Obviously, it wasn't. It seemed strange that they would have at least two angles of video of this thing collapsing if it was an accident. A little research showed that, yes, it was intentionally demolished. Knowing that, it was fun to watch. Were it accidental, it would be very, very sad.

    One of the cables snapped in August and a second in early November snapped and damaged the dish. As they considered how to repair it, it became obvious that there was no safe way to do so and it would be shut down and demolished. I hadn't heard that the recent collapse was intentional, but had expected the failure to occur soon regardless. I wonder if it will be cleaned up and rebuilt someday. The topology is perfect for this purpose.
