Sun visor mounting holes in the windshield frame
Mine aren’t threaded. What’s the fix?

Use#6 Square nuts in the top channel instead

The frames are chromed after they’ve been drilled and tapped. The threads are probably there but just hidden by the chrome...I’ve seen it a bunch of times. If you like to live dangerously you can chase and clean them out with a 6-32 bottom tap but if you go too far and touch the glass with the tap you’ll break it. Safer is to disassemble the frame and remove the glass before tapping—OR—use my optional method utilizing the top channel as Chewy mentioned. I’ve posted the “how to” a couple of times:

The windshield is already installed.

You should have an open slot in the middle of the top of the windshield frame to slide the square nuts in for Jeff's method.

I guess that makes your decision a bit easier
The square nut option is a great one unless you plan on having a soft top

Yep, I know. As I said you have 3 options; (1) tap with it in place, hold your breath and cross your fingers that you don't hit glass (2) remove and disassemble to tap (3) use the non-traditional top mount method. I guess there's a 4th option also...no visors

Ok, I see the opening in the top of the frame. Is it large enough to install the square nuts? Where can I get a set of the square nuts?
Thanks

Yes, they'll fit. You should find 6-32 square nuts at any well stocked hardware store but if you PM with your address I'll make it easy for you and drop a set of nuts and SS buttonhead screws in the mail.

as jeff said, they're avail at any hardware store. #6-32 are the largest that will fit without modification. I put in #8-32 but had to grind them down w/ an angle grinder to fit. while you're at it, pick up some SS screws and cut them to correct length so they don't bottom out in your channel. I used a dremel with a cutoff wheel.
