Door Handle

This is a picture from the manual of the door handle installed. As you can see the part that fits over the square shaft of the door handle points toward the inside of the door. However the part that holds the clevis and fits over the door handle is to long. In the manual they say to drill a hole in it to attach the Clevis but make no mention of cutting the part to length. If you turn everything around you cannot tighten the bolt that holds that part to the square shaft. Can anyone remember on there builds how they assembled this?

I installed them and didn’t like the way they operated or looked. I threw them in the garbage can. I installed shaved handles

Installed as shown, the part that is too long determines the home position of the handle as it bottoms on the backing plate; if you cut it too short (as I did) it will miss the stop. (imo) it should just kiss the door frame. Also beware of the window glass conflicting with the mechanism

Rob, I am looking at the Spall kit and it looks like there is NO handles at all, only the fobs.... Correct?

Yes It’s a shaved handle kit. With a fob to pop the door open. Wallace 18 has good info on his build thread to mount and install the unit.
