289 USRRC/FIA ordered 09/09/2021, order fullfillment date 3/26/2022
Hello everyone.
This is my first post ever, anywhere. Please bear with me. I have looked at this project off/on for 10 years. I am looking to do a loose homage car, Viking or Guardsman blue. Wimbledon white stripes, meatballs, wheels. This is what order looks like:
289 complete kit
Powdercoated chassis
Straight tubes, stainless
BP 347 EFI, vintage look, TKX, alternator only, ordered.
Cutouts traced.
289 FIA trunk.
Vintage race seats.
IRS
15x8/9'' Halibrand replica wheels.
Front, rear swaybars.
Battery cutoff switch.
Heater,defroster.
Center dash supports.
289 gauge set, considering Smiths.
15" IRS Koni double adjustable shock set.
IRS 11.65" rear brake kit.
Looking for body work, paint in Evansville, IN area.
Plan to follow FFR Youtube build videos on gapping, cutouts myself, first thing, then send body out on buck and casters, and continue build.
Debating sending out aluminum panels for powder coating versus painting some at home, Sharkhide others. In my climate there is always concern for powdery corrosion, which I experienced with airplanes.
I am worried about long backorder lists and delays. Oh well.
I only work 15 days a month. Wife is less mobile these days, took up embroidery. I needed a new project.
Wife says it will be a blast. Yay.

It’s an old school term for fireman. Got its name in the east coast because of the J shaped street call box key.

Congrats on the new purchase. I'm a newbie as well and I just ordered a Mk4. We have the exact same fulfillment date. I'm gonna have to keep tabs on you and see how the build goes since our kids will be the same age.

Congrats to you too!!! Continuing the wait.
