My son and I were rummaging through my storage loft not long ago and he opened a box of SCCA trophies (and dash plaques) asking "Where did this come from?". The trophies were varied in configuration but consistently inexpensive. OTOH I spent weekends, evenings, Holidays, and all my treasure to win them.
I recall that in sixties-seventies dollars it took $20K to get through a season, with a prepared car, and the car was not worth much at the end of the season. Actually the cars wore tech inspection stickers not dash plaques.
