thumbs up for the Ryobi for me. lost count of all of the different 18 volt tools I have from them. Rivet gun came from Harbor Freight. There was now way my forearms would have survived with out it. Doug

    Shelving

Found myself running out of shelf space .... ALREADY! Spent the last two days adding a few more.

I'm all about getting the most for the least in everything I do.
RYOBI tools fall right in with that philosophy.
And, I was not shopping for the cheap seat, just something that was in one of the Road and Track magazine emails I get every day.

I have a mix of DeWalt (drills, grinders), Ryobi (saws and bench drill press), and Milwaukee (electric rivet gun, electric ratchets). I like all of them. Never had any issues with any of them.
    My Type 65 Coupe: Ordered May 27, 2021. Arrived November 19, 2021.
I would like to treat my gas pedal as a binary operator. It would be nice to get the cooperation of everyone in front of me.

So after seven weeks without a paycheck waiting for the insurance company to approve or deny my disability they notified me today that they didn't agree with my cancer doctor and they denied my request. So it's back to work on Monday.

Both my doctor and I have pushed back on this. They claim I am not sick enough to claim disability. I guess Leukemia is not considered a sickness. What sucks is the old insurance company last year approved my claim for 6 months off. This year its a new insurance company and they denied. Even the HR staff questioned it. No pay check for 7 weeks also has a part in deciding not to further appeal.

Nuts, brother! I am very sorry to hear about the denied claim. They really have you over a barrel; no income, so you return to work. If you return to work, you aren't "disabled." The prognosis hasn't changed, but they are forcing your hand. I am truly sorry!

Focus on staying well, keeping up your energy level, focus on the things that make you happy, and hang in there! Let us know what we can do to help...

I appreciate your build updates and have enjoyed following along. Fight the good fight!

    Regards,

    Steve

Decided to purchase the Fortress air compressor that was on sale at Harbor Freight. May not be good enough to paint the car with but I will cross that bridge when I come to it. May give me the excuse to get it professionally done or maybe just drive it in gel coat.

Also received the Mastercool 71550 A/C Hose Crimper Tool

Love all the new tools! Curious to see how you like the Milwaukee rivet gun...really nice tool! I use a rivet puller attachment attached to my Milwaukee 90 degree drill...

Would love to push back and fight but the down side if I lose is just to much. 7 weeks without a paycheck puts me right at my limit. Any more and it would ruin my plans and probably force a cancelation of my order. Not going down that trail.

I don't have the car to work on .... I don't want to wait to order only to have to wait due to supply chain issues .... Having parts and pieces delivered multiple times a week keeps the excitement up .... if I save my money the X will only try to get it anyway!!!

Looks like Ididit completely redesigned that module, although the part number appears to be the same. The picture on Summit's website is what mine looks like. And it's not that old. Purchased a little over one year ago for my truck build. Mine has obvious relays attached and wires permanently attached. The connector is new.

It certainly surprised me when I opened the box. I was expecting something small like what I saw on you thread and in the pic. It looks well made. Finding a space for it may be a challenge.

Received the Rigid model 403 3/16" tubing bender.

Also received a quart of Sharkhide with a package of application cloth diapers. Plan on trying this on the Boig Cool Tubes I have.

    Boig Cool Tube Dress UP

I, mistakenly, thought the Boig Cool Tubes were polished stainless. They are actually raw aluminum. Being raw aluminum the surface finish is dull. There are clamp marks where the bends were made along with some scratches and manufacturing/inventory markings.

Don't get me wrong, I feel they are worth every penny paid. They are custom bent with custom rubber tubing and all required clamps. But I wanted to dress them up a little. I had recently purchased a quart of SharkHide so I figured I would experiment with these. I used some course green Scotch-Brite to "polish" most of the marks away and to "brighten" the finish as shown in this pic.

I then gave them a good washdown with acetone followed by lacquer thinner. After they dried I used the recommended cloth diaper to apply a coat of the SharkHide. I'm happy with the results.

Aren't some of those Boig Cool Tubes ceramic coated? I am taking it that yours were not or that you wanted more protection? Thanks.

When I ordered there was no choice. I just wanted a more dressier look than the raw, marked up aluminum. I could have gone with a ceramic coating or even a powder coating. IMO the SharkHide was the simplest.

    Back-up Camera

Wandered off the reservation of others builds a little. Decided to use a back-up camera/mirror. Chose the Auto-Vox T-9. I don't remember where I saw a review of this one but was impressed with it. A bit pricey but should make the blind spots on the coupe a little easier to deal with.

Those full display video mirrors are really the way to go, the booger is getting proper placement of the camera to get a full view.
Best placement would be up top just above the rear hatch glass, similar to how the camera is placed on the C8 Corvette.
I've been looking for an acceptable camera pod to mount in that location but haven't seen anything I like, will probably just have to make my own.

Ltngdrvr, My thoughts exactly. The review, that I can't remember where I saw it, had mounted it right at the bottom of the coupe's tail. It gave a nice wide view of the road and everyone's bumpers. Ideally I would like to mold it into the roof line right above the hatch window somehow. Would like to make it replaceable also. Not sure if my skillset is capable of accomplishing that or not. Only time will tell. A second location would be on the back just below the top lip under the spoiler. That might be an easier install.

If you google search back up camera pod, you'll find some, but they are large and meant for the back of a truck or RV, and they point the camera down too much.
My idea is to us some 1/4 thick black PVC foam sheets, glued together in a stack to make a block piece thick enough to drill a hole in it for the camera to slide into, then cut and shape the block into some aerodynamic profile, and use 3M mounting tape to attach it to the top of the car body.
I found this one on amazon, close but not quite...

Here's a pic of a rear view camera pod from a Jaguar, it's very close to my idea of what I would sculpt from the stacked PVC foam sheets, but larger than what I would want to end up with.

I ordered A/C on the Coupe. I knew I would need a manifold gauge set to charge the system. I was not in a hurry to purchase as it will be a while before I get to that point but Eastwood had the Fairmount R-134 A/C System Manifold Gauge Set on sale so I picked it up.

    Corbeau Seat Scare

I wanted to order the Corbeau Evolution X heated seats for the coupe. I figured there would be a substantial lead time. To my surprise, shortly after placing the order I received an email stating that they were in stock and would ship without delay. I had ordered two seats with two 1" tall universal seat brackets. I was notified by Corbeau that they were shipping three items, the 2 seats and one bracket. I was eagerly awaiting for FedEx on delivery day. The driver brought the first package to the porch. I brought it in and noticed it was two boxes taped together that were the size of the brackets. Hmmm. While I was doing that the driver brought a large box the size of the seat to the front porch. Instead of standing the box upright he laid it down. Thought that was a bit odd. I was supposed to sign for the delivery but the driver took off and ran back to the truck and drove off. Needless to say I was a little upset as I was expecting 2 seats and one bracket and I received what looked like one seat and 2 brackets. I had wanted to talk to the driver but he was long gone. Looking at the seat box it was very banged up. Side seams had split and were tapped up. The top had what looked like extra tape applied. When lifting the box into the upright position to bring it into the house I found out why the driver had laid it down. There was a large area that had been ripped out!

    Damaged Corbeau box

At this point I'm figuring I am missing one seat and the one I have is going to be damaged. I was not looking forward to that fight with FedEx. My anxiety level was thru the roof. I immediately opened the seat box and to my surprise found that both seats were packed in the one box. One upright and the other upside down. They were well packed in bubble wrap. After pulling them out and unwrapping them to look for any damage I was relieved to find them in perfect order.

Both of the brackets were in perfect shape also.

What started out as high anxiety ended up as a good day in the end.

Are those the seats that look like the seatbacks move, but are actually fixed?
