Display Name: GN Spyder
Location: Long Grove, IL
FFR Number: FFR4166GT
Status: Have been driving it for over a year now. It's been to DVSF in 2005, Woodward Cruise in 2005, at the race track once (ran 11.99@119, then almost lost it when I turned up the wick...seems the rear end got "light" and lifted. I believe I know what caused it, and will be panning the underside this year.
Build detail: The theme for building this beauty was to be "different". Well, it's different. I have a Buick V6 turbo engine AKA Buick Grand National, with twin turbos and strengthened lower end. Engine control is FAST ECU with 50 lb injectors and a Wide Band O2 sequentially controlled fueling system. Car weighs 3075 lbs with full tank and driver. Weight distribution is 52/48 F/R. Tire size 275-40ZR17 front, 335-35ZR17 rear (Sumitomo/Kumho). Customization includes BMW Z4 taillights, Corvette C5 rear side markers, VW Beetle front turn signals/side markers, HID headlamp conversion, HID fog light conversion, Chevy van 3rd. brake light on spoiler. Automatic 4spd. OD transmission with Moon Eyes digital shifter. Electrical system is mostly incorporated into the console, where there is a relay for each switch on the dash. All switches are LED low current pusbutton style switches. Gauges are Autometer. Remote control for hood, trunk and doors. Paint is 2003 Corvette Anniversary Red (3-step) and stripes are Cadillac Diamond White Pearl. Car was featured in Kit Car Builder magazine, Apr. 2006.

Update: as I have AC, we did a major dash mod. We molded firberglass panel to the lower part of the FFR panel including rounded ends. We included a center console for the AC controls, starter key, aux outlet, and radio. My dash ends fit right next to the window upright support and we have included two 1/4 in bolts in each side through the widow upright to the dash end. I am using a nut attachment that is built into the dash. the bolts are recessed a bit into the window upright for no door shut conflict.
Just back from paint, Ford 150 truck red.
Chassis 022, S/N: FFR4526GT which is also the the Texas VIN number for this car.

AutoWeek ran a contest for their 50th Anniversary issue. Had to submit a photo and 50 words or less about the impact the automotive industry/car had on me. They selected one entry from each state. The photo was a thumbnail along with my comments but at least I made it into print along with the immortals.
There were only a few replicars among the 50 as I recall and mine was not even finished. The headers and side pipes weren't even installed. Proof that my pen is mightier than my wrench ... or they were just plain desperate to fill a page.
