    Scrap Donor - MA

I tried searching and there was some context but I couldnt find what I was looking for but I am sure I am not looking in the right places. This being said I am ready to scrap my donor and move on to the next step here. Just not sure what I paperwork I need or if I need to call the DEP? Who should I call to get rid of the carcus, any sugestions? Any insight would help or point me in a direction. Thank you!

Are you scrapping the donor in order to get an emissions exemption? If so, the vehicle must have the engine in it when you scrap it and there is a form that must be filled out by the scrap yard for you. The car must have been titled in the last 2 years before you register your replica. These are commonly called crusher cars. It must be older than 1974 I think and there are 3 engine size categories that your new engine has to fit into depending on the size of the crushed car engine size. If you are just trying to get rid of want you don't want from a car you removed the drivetrain, etc from to use for your kit you can call any car scrap yard and have the title to sign over to them.

I’ll be doing the same this week. Before you scrap the vehicle, call your Motorist Assistance Center and talk to them. They’ll let you know the steps and correct documents to bring to the scrapyard

Lots of the smaller auto junk yards/scrap yards will take the remaining parts. You will need the title and make sure you receive a receipt stating the vin# and the fact that it has been scrapped. The bigger yards don't seem to want to bother but the smaller guys will just crush it out.

I could be wrong, but I don't think you need to go the crusher car route with a donor. I'm not using a donor, so I'll have to sacrifice a car to the gods of the mass rmv. We're supposedly in the worst state for this. I'm really dreading that part of the build.
