LS3 Accelerator pedal sensor options, installation
Anyone that installed a crate LS3 with ECU or bought a stand alone GM ECU that came with the gas pedal, how did you mount it (too big) or what pedal/sensor did you use that fit? I remember Street Rod Jim mentioned having to get one for a corvette. Do you think any GM pedal that fits will work with the electronics? I tried to fit it today and there is no way it will work unless I made a different metal bracket and cut about 2" off the bottom of the pedal.IMG_20221206_135214_hdr.jpg IMG_20221206_135229_hdr.jpg IMG_20221206_135254_hdr.jpg

I don't know how much of this will be applicable to the hot rod. But FWIW, this is what I did with the LS3 DBW module on my truck build. I removed the stock mounting bracket and made my own mounting plate that bolts to the side of the Wilwood pedal box shelf. Maybe something like that would work for you? https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/show...l=1#post453204.
After posting the pic, another forum member recommended replacing the stock pedal portion with a Lokar DBW-6200 billet gas pedal assembly. Not cheap, but a nice piece that bolts right on and looks great. Pictured in this post from my build thread. https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/show...l=1#post454466.
Maybe that helps a little or gives you some ideas.

Something like that might work. I'll have to move my fuse box or make the bracket higher toward the firewall and put it up there. Things to ponder. Thanks again!

Apologies for this not being the best photo, but this is what I did on my roadster. It replaces the GM mounting bracket and simply bolts to the existing pedal box framing.

Here's a couple of pics of what I did to get that pedal mounted in my Gen3 Coupe build. Had to shave a couple inches off the bottom of the pedal then get a little creative removing material to clear the steering column. Just at the go-kart stage at the moment but it seems to be working fine.

Thanks all for the inspiration! I ended up taking off my fuse box and holding the pedal up against the pedal box frame and positioning it to about where I wanted it. The top bolt landed against the side top of the frame. I cut everything off the bracket except the flat part that's against the sensor and mounted it on the opposite side, drilled a hole and bolted it on. Now I can pivot it to get the relationship to the other pedals I want. I'll figure that out later. The fuse box will still work, just a little higher. The PS controller will still fit somewhere up on the firewall.
