    Gen 2 Hood Hinge Question

    hinge 1.jpghinge 2.jpg

Does anyone see anything wrong with my hood hinge assembly?
When I push the hinge up to meet the hood pads it's about an inch too far forward (towards front of car) and the angle is wrong. The front part of the hood pad as about 3/8" away from the hinge while the rear of it touches.
    Hopefully that makes sense.....
    This is on a Speedstar.
    Thanks in advance...

It looks the same as the one I have on a GEN Hot rod. I would contact FFR. Maybe the Speedstar hinge is different and you have the wrong one.

Have you marked the holes in the hood with the template? Also, the width for the mounting plates is pretty variable. Leave a lot of this stuff pretty loose until you can line it all up. Looks like my Gen 2 at this point. It will lift the hood up and forward quite a bit as you open. You need about 6 hands to do all of this!!

The problem I’m having is as soon as I start raising the hood it wants to move forward and hit the back side of the grille opening. If I slide the hood back on the hinge mounts then I have a 3/4” gap in the front . What am I missing here ?

I had trouble with the hinges on my Speedstar. The template for the inserts in the hood positioned too far forward. I wound up placing the hood where I wanted it and pressed the hinge against the pad and remarked for new inserts. Also, the straight piece with the angled slots needed to be flipped over so the slots angled up towards the rear of the car. Finally I needed rubber bumpers on the grill shell to hold the hood up so it would clear the edge of the grill as the hood opened.
