    Moving to Calif and Re-titling

I currently live in Georgia and my hot rod is titled in Georgia as a Factory Five 33 Hot Rod Replica. There is a possibility that I may be moving back to California later in 2023. So, am I going to run into significant issues when I have to re-title my car in California? When I titled the car the Georgia Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) kept all my receipts and the FFR MCO.

    Title information includes:

    Make - Factory Five Racing
    Year - 2022
    Type of Body - Roadster
Model - 33 Hot Rod Replica
Date Vehicle Purchased - 2017 (Date I purchased the kit from FFR)
Other statement on the title says, "ASSEMBLED"

    Many thanks.

I couldn't find anything that would exempt your car from meeting California requirements, which do provide for an emissions exemption using the SB-100 legislation. I assume that would require you to apply for the exemption. Otherwise, a "smog check" is required. Some information that may help in this article: https://www.motortrend.com/news/0605...ia-smog-check/

    Good luck!

You more than likely will need to go through the SB100 process to get the car smog exempt. The only smog requirements for the SB process is a PCV valve enclosed system which is very easy to add to any pushrod engine. Once you complete the SB process you are golden and will never have to do anything other than pay your registration fees (mine is around $540/yr with a custom plate).

    Papa and Fman,
Many thanks for your feedback. Did find a thread on a separate Cobra forum (not FFR) that described the exact situation that I may find myself if we move to California. Looks like there is no short cut around the full SB100 title and registration process. Little concerned about having to pay a chunk of money to CA DMV after paying the Georgia Title Ad Velorem Tax (TAVT) here. I need to do a little more research since the Georgia MVD kept my invoices and not sure how that will affect California registration.
