Wow, that's commitment to wanting improved access. And, a clean looking 'after' shot. Nice work! Will there also be a Gurney Bubble in this coupe's future?
Roadster #9146. Complete Kit, 363 w/Jim Inglese Weber Carbs, Forte TKO600 w/Hydraulic Clutch, IRS, Wilwood Brakes, F & R Sway Bars, 17" Halibrands, Power Steering, Breeze Front Battery Kit, Herb's Door Panels, and who knows what else left to be added.
Ordered 5/19/17. Delivered 8/18/17. Slowly Building.
I hate where those top-side bars are on my Coupe- why can't they be moved up an inch or so along the radius of the front and rear hoops?
Good to see that the tubes are thick-wall- ready to 'brain' me in a side-impact accident.

nice work.
can you really call yourself gumby if you can't contort to fit inside though ?
Wish I thought of that back when I built my coupe. I wrapped the bar with some padding but still bumped it with my head. Any chance the doors will be modified to wrap into the roof giving even more entry area? I know modifying the doors/roof takes away from the originallity of the body, but for the average street driver it would sure make getting in and out easier.
that last pic looks pretty badass if you ask me, something straight out of Mad Max
Is that a stock 4.0 six from Aussie land?

My Type 65 Coupe: Ordered May 27, 2021. Arrived November 19, 2021.
I would like to treat my gas pedal as a binary operator. It would be nice to get the cooperation of everyone in front of me.
On my Gen II the halo bars were welded so high that the body hit the curve in the bars before the body fully seated itself on the door sill area. I had to cut them at the main hoop, pull them down an inch with oxy-acetylene and a come along, and reweld them so that they would not either wear a hole in the roof, crack the body or both. Not sure how much clearance the Gen IIIs have, but mine and I am told other Gen IIs had to be moved down, not up! The halo bar location is the scariest part of the car and at 5'10.5" tall I should probably wear a helmet to drive it.
Is that the car that was owned by "Kit Car Rob" and crashed many years ago?
Jeff said he posted some pics of my build; figured I better get in here before he starts telling cockamamie stories about how I autoX a truck, and tow with a car.

So, anyway.....
This is that car.
Ah, look who showed up! We can use more Gumby thinking and bad decision making around here
If there are any cockamamie stories to be told they'll include the one about how THESE:

In my Gen 2 car I replaced the fore/aft tubes with an "X" configuration. Here's a picture of it in progress.
