    818 Headlight wiring advice Please

I wired up the headlights exactly as per the manual, I think. Here are the OEM bright and dim bulbs functioning

I wired in the left side Hella lights from FFR and kept OEM on the right for now. the dims on the FFR Hella light function but I don't have brights. I can actuate the shutter on the Hella's with my bench power supply which gives 10amp DC current.

You can see the right side OEM function as they should

Any ideas how to get the brights to flash on these Hella lights?

    Thanks

Here's a schematic for wiring up the Hella lights for a 2006 Impreza donor. (That's the same as mine.)

Are you keeping the Daytime Running Lights feature? Are you keeping the fog lights switch?

    Thanks RPG!

Yes I want to keep the DRL. Here is what it looks like now. And this is what you mean by "DRL" ??

    You're almost there!

The DRL function keeps your headlights on whenever the engine is running. If the headlights aren’t switched on, the headlight ground wire goes through a resistor to reduce their brightness, increase bulb life, and reduce the hit on mileage. The round white LEDs are parking lights activated by the stem switch or the rocker switch above the steering wheel. The rocker switch works even if the engine isn’t running, but my battery barely lights them.

The Hella lamp is wired such that power (RL left, LW right) is connected to one side of both the bulb and the shield solenoid. The low beam grounding wire (YR) is connected to the other side of the bulb. The high beam grounding wire (R) is connected to the other side of the shield solenoid. That should make the high beams work properly.

If the high beam stays on even if not switched on, unplug the fog light switch. If that cures it, make the green wiring modification shown on my schematic.

Does it matter which side of the bulb the power (RKL left, LW right) is connected to? And what about the low beam, does the side its connected to matter?

    I don't think I have a fog light switch

No, neither the lamp or solenoid are polarized, so you can't go wrong. If you don't have a fog switch, that simplifies things a bit.

Ok, I definitely don't have a front fog light switch that plugs in to the B160 plug. I also have the F6 and F21 plugs.

I will hook it up like your diagram tomorrow without the green modification connection and see what happens.

Way to go with the lights! Cabin lights look awesome.

Those little lights are the license plate lights. The side marker lights are in case your state requires them.
