Engine Dress Up

After replacing DS front shock (thanks, FFR, for the quick ship), I decided I might as well jazz up the bay a bit after seeing all the other pretty bays on the forum. Some reminders:

1) RAGS - place rags in the cylinder head openings. Shame on me for this, but I dropped a stud in the head and luckily fished it out with a magnet pretty easily (after a quick change of underwear).

2) Related to #1, the nuts that come with the ARP valve cover studs are will NOT get picked by a magnet.

3) used felpro gaskets, no goop, no leak after tetsing

4) new valve cover (https://www.cjponyparts.com/ford-per...-351w/p/VC143/) came with long bolt to place in the upper center position (old cover had contour to use short bolt as the others) - it is TOO long. Cut it our use some spacers after some measuring.

5) studs (per BPE) torqued to 10 ft-lbs

6) nuts torqued to 8 ft-lbs

Very nice. There is no way that I will make my Coyote look that pretty, but it won't stop me from trying.

Both versions look great! I personally like the black valve covers and air cleaner, give it a more sinister look haha.

Who's car is this? I really like the location of the brake & clutch reservoirs. What's going on with the hood latch setup? Haven't seen that before.

Those two horizontal latching shafts just outside of the stripe engage with corresponding brackets the hood. Those are retracted by cable via a handle in the cockpit. That plunger in the center is spring loaded and raises the hood an inch or so when the latches are released. There are no external hood handles:

I'm sorry if this is hijacking Scrubs thread as the work he did is fantastic, but Jeff I have to ask, did you fabricate those coil pack covers? That is a Gen 2, correct? I bought a modified Gen 2 cover to fit my Gen 3 before I saw what Paul did on one of his builds with the Gen 3 cover that made it actually look nice. I believe Paul fabricated coil pack covers for his Gen 3. My fabricating skills can not hold a candle to Paul's so I am looking for options.

It's actually a Gen 1 but the Gen1 and 2 covers are the same. These are OEM covers with the "Powered By Ford" script milled out. Aluminum was cut and polished to fill the grooves in the coil and intake covers and I painted them to match the exterior.

I just did an engine swap a few weeks ago. As part of the process we power cleaned and touch up painted the engine bay. Also did a serious redo of the wiring and hoses. Really thought we did a nice job and I was about to post photos. Then Jeff K entered chat and lol. I'm not worthy! Holy cow that is nice!
