What's interesting to me is a something simple - a Volkswagen dune buggy was my first idea in building a car! Then a friend told me about the Factory Five kit and the rest is history!

Thankfully the Mark 1s weren’t quite as cobbled together as that dune buggy. Although I did get some comments early on about it being “One of them Cobras with the Mustang frame”. Nowadays most folks just ask me if it’s a Factory Five. When people ask me if it’s an original I have been known to answer yes, (long pause) Original Factory Five.

I built a dune buggy when I was a junior in high school (1968). Drove it everywhere including a 3 week trip from Massachusetts to California and back. Used it summers while in college and then sold it. Wish I still had it but at 73 not sure if I could still get in and out of it!
