    High beam

Helping my neighbor with his newly acquired factory 5. Cobra replica. A headlight switch is sourced from a fox body mustang and seems to work fine. There doesn't seem to be a high beam switch on the car. Car was built around 20 years ago. Very low mileage in great shape overall but cannot find a high beam switch. Could it be hidden somewhere?

    Michael,

Every one of these cars is unique and can be very different depending on the individual builder. I'm not familiar with the donor harness builds from the early days of these kits, but perhaps someone will be able to point you in the right direction. On the newer kits, the high-beams are activated with a simple toggle switch that is typically dash mounted.

is there a foot activated switch on the floor? some have incorporated one of these in the past. look under the dash for a hidden switch as well.

some have the Russ Thompson turn signal that has a momentary switch on the end of the stalk

    try every button, switch

sometimes they're hidden under the dash too

The fact that there is a Mustang headlight switch makes it sound like the car has a donor or partial donor harness The Mustang headlight switch activated high beams via the turn signal stalk. Was that retained in the car? If not there is likely a toggle...or an old school foot switch...or no high beams at all!

Is there a high beam lamp (usually blue) on the dash? If not, maybe there is no high beam wiring.

Thanks for the replies. I'll keep looking - but it seems that whoever built this car skipped the high beam wiring.
