    Coupe vs roadster drivers footbox space

    Apologies - I know this question has been asked and answered but for some reason my search skills are failing me at the moment.

    I'm curious about how the drivers footbox space is in the coupe, particularly around the accelerator, vs a roadster. In my roadster (circa 2019 kit delivery, so current footbox sheetmetal AFAIK) it's very tight with my size 13 shoes. I can only drive the car in Puma Speedcats or driving loafers. Is the coupe any better or is it about the same? Are there footbox mods that work in the coupe to increase space or is it pretty much maxed out? (Assuming a hypothetical Aluminator and T56 combo with Gas-N headers).

    Once you're in there is more room in the Coupe. Note that the first 3 words of that sentence are key

    Thanks Jeff. I just watched Dave Smith's demo on how to get in and out of the coupe. Technique is key I'm not so worried about getting in and out as I'm still relatively fit and flexible and thin. Just tall(ish) with long legs and big feet. The roadster is a pretty tight fit for me, so I'm happy to hear that the coupe has more room.

    See post #47 near the end of my build thread. A couple of days ago I posted that I cannot fit my size 12s on the accelerator pedal with normal shoes on. I am like you, am tall, skinny, with big feet. BurchfieldB replied describing a custom panel he had made and posted a copy of .jpgs that show the panel. I will most likely be making a custom panel.

    Having had the latest version of the Mk4 Roadster and now my Gen 3 Coupe I can offer my observation plus build pictures. Both with Coyote DBW accelerators and Wilwood pedals. I've found the footbox space between the two is very similar. I wear 10-1/2-11 wide shoes and find the "normal" ones a little marginal. Easy to touch more than one pedal at a time or even get caught under the edge of one of the pedals. I have a pair of narrower shoes that I use for driving and it's fine. As you can see in the pictures, I added a dead pedal on the Roadster. The Coupe has a frame member that serves the same purpose. I like being able to rest my LH foot past the pedals. Always room for creativity, but the availability for mods that give a lot more space in the Coupe are limited IMO. There are probably options to space the pedals wider at the expense of not as much space on the LH side. Hope this helps.
