Just wondering if this body-swap would work??

I've always wondered if another body could be used on a Coupe (or roadster). I think FFR's frames are amazing!

Saw this beautiful body and immediately thought it deserved a frame worthy of a race care. It's close, wheelbase-wise: 1963 Corvette: 98" and FFR Coupe: is 96". I know the rollcage would probably not work, but I'm sure someone could figure that and the interior out. I'm just planting the seed.

It's not for me, I'm very happy with my "Built, Not Bought" FFR MK4 Roadster F5R #7446, but I'm sure some Chevy guy itching to build a BBC with more talent than me could make this happen.

A fabricator like my friend Gumby with enough talent to modify the FFR chassis to work would just start from scratch.

When my MKII was totaled, I sold my frame to a guy in NY and he is putting a Jaguar Type D body on it. I don't know what kind of mods he had to make, but so far it is looking pretty good.

The Roadster Shop makes very good chassis. Dave Kindig uses them as the basis for his CF1 semi-production version of the Gen 1 Corvette. If serious, RS will modify a production design for you. Unless you are a fabricator with a very well equipped shop, I think going to the RS makes more sense. However, you could never put together a Corvette replica for the price point of a Factory Five. But if you have to have one, the components are out there.
MK4 base kit, 2004 Mach 1 donor, 4.6L DOHC, TR-3650 5-speed, narrowed stock axle with 3.55 gears and TruTrac, PS, PB, ABS, 17" Halibrand replica wheels, started 12/2011, registered 9/2014, sold 3/1/2018.
1970 Mustang Fastback Coyote powered Boss 302 tribute. Started 10/14/16.
Gen 3 Coupe Base Kit non-donor build. Ordered 4/5/2024 to be received August 2024.

RS will even make fully custom frames, but they're spendy. For a time I was contemplating putting a Mercedes 190SL (W121) body on an RS chassis, and had spoken to them about it. You basically send them the body and they 3D scan it and build a fully custom frame for it.
MkIV Roadster build: Gen 2 Coyote, IRS, TKO600. Ordered 10/24/18. Delivered 1/29/19. Engine installed 8/8/21. First start 9/12/21. First go-kart 9/17/21. Off to paint 4/11/22. Back from paint 12/30/22. Build thread here.

I have an Avanti project that replaces the (1953 design) Studebaker chassis with a C4 Corvette chassis. I stripped the C4 and did a FEA of frame stiffness. The result is an equivalent truss frame design (below the floor pan) with C4 front crossmember and rear frame stub for stock Corvette suspension at 109in wheelbase. LS engine and six speed.
