    Desperation Has Set In

Hello everyone. It’s been a long time since I was on or posted to the forum. I’ll get straight to the point. I have an 818S kit that I purchased and started in 2016. I had shoulder surgery, a move to another state, losing my father to Alzheimer’s, kids growing up, and generally life getting in the way. I got stuck in the build when I did my first start and oil was passing through somewhere and coming straight out of the turbo. I tried some different things and ended up buying a used harness (in great condition) built by iWire. I installed the harness and this time got stuck in the build with the electrical side of things. I don’t want to quit on this build. It’s been pulling at my heart strings every time I go into the garage and see it under the cover.
So here is where it is at:
It mechanically ready for another first start. However, I can’t seem to get the right power to the fuel pump and ignition with the new harness. I’m pretty good with electrical but not enough to figure out the issue(s).
    What am I asking:
Is there anyone in the east central PA area that can help me with this hurdle? I’d be willing to compensate for your time etc. If this is not proper etiquette for the forum, I apologize, but I’m desperate to get this build back on track.
Please PM me if you think you can help.
    Thank you.

You've certainly had a run of obstacles, kudos for sticking with it.

There is nothing against protocol asking for support, and I know plenty of guys on here are willing to and have provided aid to others. The biggest question mark will be if anyone is close enough. I would recommended you append "- Seeking Help" to the end of the thread title so it grabs more attention.

How far are you from Philly? I'm from Houston but have a few Philly trips for work before the end of the year, might be able to get by on a Friday or Saturday at the tail end of a business trip.

I'm not close enough or knowledgeable enough to help with your wiring issue, but Brian from IWire was extremely helpful with issues I had. I think it highly likely that he would help even though you did not buy your harness directly from him.

I'm 2 hrs south & West of Hershey, so potentially close enough to road trip to help you out. Always reach out to this forum for help; I've found it to be one of the best out there for quality of member.

Have you looked into hard wiring the fuel pump and removing the controller from the equation? I'm pretty sure I've read threads that have taken that route (just running the pump full beans and letting the FPR deal with it).

I’m pretty sure I bought your original straight back muffler from you early in your 818 build. Your quote about hard wiring the fuel pump makes sense, but that is where I’m stuck. I’m not really confident that I can do that properly.

Thanks and thank you to you guys for your willingness to help. I understand the concepts of the wiring and motor, I’m just not good enough to troubleshoot and correct. We have plenty of room to host and my wife makes a mean batch of homemade chicken and dumplings.

Do you have the stock fuel tank and pump, or do you have an aftermarket?

Stock pump, aftermarket tank (Boyd aluminum), stock FPR, Boomba Racing rails, and injectors were cleaned and tested by Witch Hunter in MA.

I was one of the people that bypassed the fuel pump controller on my 818r. PM me if you'd like to hear more.
