How-to Install Brake Duct and Oil Cooler Mesh In Place
How are you guys bonding these brake duct and oil cooler mesh pieces in place?
I bought the Finish Line sets and the brake ducts look like I’ll need to slightly modify. The oil cooler mesh came as a flat piece that I guess I have to cut and form myself?
I’ve seen guys use silicon but understand it’ll let go over time.
Maybe that’s a good thing for ease of removal?
Got any pics?

Exterior grade silicone. The car has been on the road ten years, driven in most conditions (no snow yet) and they are still stuck tight.
For the oil cooler, I stuck a board behind the opening, traced the inside of the hole with a sharpie and cut the board out 1/4 inch outside that line. Used the board to shape the flat sheet to fit around the opening.

Agree with Norm, exterior grade silicone works well. For my oil cooler opening, I cut an oversized rectangle piece of the mesh and press fit it in place from the inside, bending it around the lip. I then trimmed off the excess mesh and glued in place with silicone. The mesh provides a good lattice structure for the silicone to bond to.

Ken Pike recommended I use Permatex Ultra Black. It's basically oil-resistant RTV silicone. Worked perfectly and blends seamlessly with the black undercoating on the backside of the body.
