    Trunk Prop

Have a janky prop on my trunk lid that makes me cringe when I let the trunk rest on it. It’s off to the right side and tweaks the lid. Only a matter of time before she rips out or worse ;(
I like the gas shock setup but appears that there are several methods to using gas shocks. I’d rather not have to replace my hinges to mount the shocks from the hinges, forward.

    Any suggestion?

My old MkII had the old surface mount hinges. A friend w/ the same installed gas shocks w/o attaching to the hinges. A year or so later one of his hinges blew apart. They are made of crappy pot metal. Plenty strong enough when used as intended but they couldn't take the stress from a mostly compressed gas shock. I made up a fairly nice looking prop rod from 3/8 round aluminum and found a small furniture leg robber cap for the top end where it contacted the trunk lid.
FFR MkII, 408W, Tremec TKO 500, 2015 IRS, DA QA1s, Forte front bar, APE hardtop.

Can anyone with the gas shock setup that mounts further up the trunk lid and to the lip under the front of the inner trunk tell me what shock size is used for this?
Sorry I hope that makes sense.
This is the mount method I like the best.
Need to know the shock lbs, extended length and body length.
