I wish I had Rich! Being the sandpaper supplier for a FFR painter would be just about as lucrative as having the toilet paper concession at a sorority house!

Jeff I am curious since that seems like a he11 of a lot of paper on the floor. Does it clog w/ the filler? Does it just wear from say a 120 to a 220? What tells you it's time for a new piece?

That's pretty ordinary Craig! When the paper is no longer sharp and isn't cutting well it's time to drop it, otherwise you're just rubbing and not getting anywhere. To block out the entire body, doors, hood, trunk lid and scoop after the high build polyester (Slick Sand) I go through about 2/3 of a 25 yard roll of 150 grit block paper, so around 50 feet. Following the urethane primer surfacer it takes 1/2 of a 25 yard roll of 320 grit and then 10-12 half sheets of 600 wet paper.

Can confirm from my first build...I was perpetually running to my local jobber to get more paper. Also learned to place a sheet of paper towel on the car, then slide it around the body with my open hand on the paper towel. You'd be amazed at what you can feel vs your bare hand, in terms of slight imperfections.

Jeff's picture above is why I'm having him paint #2.

Good thing these are little cars. Can you imagine the materials to prep, sand and finish a mid 60's Cadillac or Lincoln?

I feel your pain brother! Halfway through the 180 grit, back half left to go, then primer.
