Has anyone built headers for side pipes on hot rod?

I really want to have side pipes on my hot rod. Two reasons.. first the underfloor on a gen1 chassis is a nightmare. There’s just not enough room and it’s always rattling against the chassis.. I’ve tried so many things to fix it but I’m losing.. and second, I would like to have a bigger diameter exhaust to free up some power.

And three.. it would be cool 😎

So, has anyone done it? Is it something I can do with some “bend kit”? Either plastic or metal bends to mock it up? I’m not a welder.. this doesn’t seem like a project to learn on.

I’m also not rich and worried this seems like a big budget item to fabricate!

Ideas on how to start?

NAZ built a set of header for his HR-33, in fact he basically built everything from the firewall back.
He lost that car and just about everything else in a wild fire that consumed his property several years ago.
The headers he created looked a lot like the Schoenfeld IMSA shorty headers that I modified for my MK-4, but his were inverted.
Take a look at Schoenfeld's website because you might be able to find something that you could adapt.
As for me, I'm using #161-33 but you could flip them and pick a different slip on collector.
I think their Rat Rod header #1346 or #1346-3 might work for your application.

I swear you're inside my head... I was just thinking this exact same idea of sidepipes. Hopefully you get this figured out and I can follow your lead

Roadster not a HotRod, but...
I designed and had header and header to sidepipe flanges built. 3/8" SS304.
Then had a local friend, Ethan, build headers to my sidepipes off of my Superformance.
I had another set of flanges built for a friend, same as mine. He mocked up the collector for his Gen # Coupe and Ethan built his pipes. Soon will be building sidepipes.
For mine, Ethan started from scratch. For the Coupe the owner had the https://icengineworks.com/ kit and mocked up his header system. These came out a bit better.

Steve, there is one header on the page you shared that looks perfect. Hard to tell until I get them of course. But the side view shows that all tubes go UP from the exhaust port, so it really looks like they will clear.

Look at the third section on this page https://www.schoenfeldheaders.com/street-rod2.html, part #1346V or 1347V (I want 1 7/8, so I'm not yet sure which is best out of these two)

The rearmost tube goes the highest, which is what we want in the 33, since the chassis is highest to the rear

If there's a set that would work I think you found them. The high hump of the primary tubes should clear the framework. I have concerns about how far out they come from the head to inside of tubes. I think our frames are a little wider than the original frames those things are built on which might be a good thing as that might make them tuck a little better to the body.

They Really Look Like They Are Going To Fit!

I am extremely excited to see how they work out.
If they do then Factory-5 needs to sell them.
It would give them a great header option.
You can't beat Schoenfeld's price either.
